My daughter (9yo, no prior French experience) has really enjoyed Little French Speakers. Her teacher, Magali, is fantastic with her. Despite being over zoom, they have quite a personal connection. I would highly recommend this program if your child is interested in obtaining beginning language skills in a low pressure, customized way.

My son has been taking lessons with Little French Speakers, and he has enjoyed them so much! His teacher is wonderful, and the structure of the lessons has been fantastic. Engaging, well-paced, and tailored to his level. Scheduling has also been incredibly easy, and we were able to find the perfect time that fits our busy schedule.

We have two sons who were at a French Immersion school, but then we had to relocate to a different city. The new school did not have access to French at the Elementary grades. I needed a reliable, high-quality source for French learning to help my boys maintain their fluency. I am so happy to have found Little French Speakers!

To expand my daughter's language skill, I signed her up at Little French Speakers for almost 9 months even though at home we speak mix Vietnamese and English.
My kid really loves to interact with LFS teachers virtually and has made a great progress. It is cool to hear her speak French at the mall and pronounce French words correctly.

We’re so happy that we found Little French Speakers! My daughter (8) had been taking French classes in a group setting locally once a week, and we were not impressed with her progress, so we decided to try something else. At the trial lesson, I could tell that the teacher was high energy and my daughter was very enraged and speaking a lot.

FAQsabout onlineFrench classes for kids

Will my child understand the class and be comfortable in a total French immersion environment?

Our classes are adapted to the students in order to make classes comfortable and inclusive. Teachers adapt their language according to students’ individual needs. For beginners, our teachers have a specific program to ease their onboarding. Our method is developed through games and immersion starting with simple words, mimes and gestures. As their level improves, the teacher will use more complex words to further grow their confidence. All of our teachers are bilingual and can also use English to explain as needed.

What age is the French online summer camp for?

Our online French summer camp is designed for children ages 5 to 15. Our native teachers adapt every lesson to your child’s age, level, and learning style whether they’re a total beginner or already have some French. Every child gets a program that feels just right for them.

How long is a lesson (15, 25, or 50 minutes)?

The optimal length depends on your child’s age and concentration. The free trial helps us determine whether 15, 25, or 50 minutes is best so that learning stays fun, effective, and motivating.

Does my child need to speak French to join?

Not at all. All levels are welcome, including complete beginners who have never heard a word of French. Our native teachers use games, visuals, and storytelling to make everything clear and fun from the very first lesson, no prior knowledge needed, just a smile and a screen.

Can siblings take classes together?

Yes, siblings can take a class together as long as they’re at a similar level and the age difference is no more than two years. This helps ensure the class content fits both children’s needs.

When siblings share the same class, a 10% discount applies to each child.

If they take separate classes, a 10% sibling discount is applied starting from the second child.

How does the free trial work?

Your child gets a free 25-minute 1-on-1 lesson with a native French teacher. No credit card required, no automatic billing, and absolutely no commitment. You simply decide afterward whether you’d like to continue most families book their first week the same day.

Will my child have homework?

Yes, homework is provided every week after the last class of the week. However, it is not mandatory — it’s simply an extra way to reinforce learning at home. The only exception is the Petite Académie level, which does not include homework

How many weeks can my child attend?

The camp is completely flexible,  join for as little as 1 week or up to 10 weeks, with up to 5 sessions per week. You choose the duration that fits your summer. There’s no need to commit to all 10 weeks upfront — you can add weeks as you go.

At what age can my child start?

We offer classes starting at 5 years old.

What materials and resources do you use during lessons?

We alternate between interactive resources (PPT, workbooks, games) and static materials to help keep children focused. Our lessons also include stories and songs in video format, which the teacher comments on to encourage your child to actively participate rather than watch passively.

Will my child have the same teacher every week?

Yes, and that’s one of the things that makes our program special. Your child works with the same dedicated native teacher all summer long. This consistency builds trust, confidence, and real momentum. Their teacher will know their name, their pace, and what makes them tick.

How do you choose the right teacher for my child?

After the free trial, the teacher who led the session recommends the colleague who is best suited to your child’s personality and learning style.

What does my child need to join online?

Just a computer or tablet with a camera and a stable internet connection. We use Zoom, you’ll receive a link before every session. No special software, no materials to buy, and no complicated setup. If your child can join a video call, they’re ready to go.

Will my child have the same teacher as in the free trial?

Not necessarily. It depends on your availability and the teacher’s schedule. However, all our teachers are trained in the same method, so your child will always receive the same high quality of learning.

How is this different from a French app or group class?

Apps and group classes give every child the same experience. We don’t. Every lesson at Little French Speakers is 100% personalized, built around your child’s level, pace, interests, and goals. They work 1-on-1 with a real native teacher who adapts in real time. No algorithm, no waiting, no getting lost in a group. Just your child and a teacher who’s fully focused on them.

How does progression from one level to the next work?

Each level includes 20 sessions:

  • At the end of each session, a short in-class quiz helps validate the skills learned.
  • Session 20 is a review session to ensure all skills are fully mastered before moving to the next level.

On average, a level lasts about one year with two 50-minute lessons per week, but this may be a bit shorter or longer depending on your child’s pace.

How will I choose between 25, or 50-minute classes?

After the free trial, you will receive an email with your child’s level placement and the recommended class duration based on their attention span.

Does my child keep the same teacher?

Yes 😊 To ensure consistency, we aim to keep the same teacher throughout a full level. We do recommend changing teachers when moving to a new level (each level lasts about one year), so your child can experience different teaching styles and enjoy a new classroom dynamic.

Will my child have the same teacher at each class level?

Yes, to ensure continuity, each class across all levels is delivered by the same teacher.

If my child already speaks some French, do they have to start from the beginning?

No 🙂 The goal of the free trial is to place your child directly at the appropriate level, so they don’t waste time repeating what they already know.

Is it possible to have multiple children in the same class?

Yes, it is absolutely possible to organize classes for siblings or friends, as long as the children are of a similar age and have a comparable level of French.

What tools are needed?

We recommend using a tablet or computer in a quiet environment, with a stable internet connection. Classes take place on Zoom.

Are classes recorded?

No. For privacy and image rights reasons, we do not record lessons.

How do enrollment and payments work?

Payments are managed through our Fons platform. You purchase a class pack, which automatically renews once your pack is completed.

Is a free trial available?

Yes ✅ We strongly recommend the free trial, which allows your child to discover the learning experience and helps us place them at the right level.

What happens if I want to stop classes?

You may stop at any time. You simply finish the current pack. In Fons, you just need to click “cancel” to stop renewal.

How do cancellations and rescheduling work?

You can cancel a class in your customer portal up to 48 hours before the start time without penalty.

  • By canceling 48 hours in advance, you also have the option to reschedule directly by checking your teacher’s availability in your Fons account.
  • If canceled less than 48 hours before, the class is deducted from your pack and cannot be rescheduled.
What time zones are lessons available in?

Our teachers are located all over the world, which allows us to offer classes in any time zone

What experience do your teachers have?

All our teachers are native speakers with solid experience in teaching French to children.

My child is shy / doesn’t like to speak, how can you help?

Our method is built around oral communication. Even very shy children quickly gain confidence and begin speaking thanks to a playful, step-by-step approach.

How long does it take to see progress?

From the first class, your child will begin to use French words and place them into short sentences. With regular practice, progress becomes visible very quickly.

Do you offer discounts?

Siblings share the same class, a 10% discount applies to each child.

If they take separate classes, a 10% sibling discount is applied starting from the second child.

Siblings can take a class together as long as they’re at a similar level and the age difference is no more than two years. This helps ensure the class content fits both children’s needs.

Children can start learning French as early as 5 years old!

According to research published by MIT neuroscientists, children are most proficient at learning a second language before age 10. Their brains are wired for language acquisition, making early childhood the optimal window for bilingual development.

The benefits of early language learning extend far beyond just speaking French:

🧠 Enhanced cognitive development and problem-solving skills

📚 Better academic performance across all subjects

🌍 Improved cultural awareness and empathy

💪 Greater confidence and communication skills

Studies from the Modern Language Association show that children who learn languages early develop stronger critical thinking abilities and perform better on standardized tests. At Little French Speakers, we teach kids ages 5-15, with specialized approaches for each age group: – Ages 5-6: « La Petite Académie » (15-minute classes, play-based) – Ages 7-15: Standard program (25 or 50-minute classes) The best time to start? Now! Every week of immersion builds their foundation for lifelong fluency.

Are online French classes for kids as effective as in-person classes?

Yes! Research from the U.S. Department of Education found that students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face-to-face instruction. For language learning specifically, 1-on-1 online classes offer several advantages over traditional group settings:

✅ 100% of the teacher’s attention focused on YOUR child

✅ Personalized pacing adapted to their learning style

✅ More speaking opportunities (no waiting for turns)

✅ Comfortable home environment reduces anxiety

✅ Flexible scheduling that fits your family’s life

According to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), consistent 1-on-1 instruction with native speakers leads to faster fluency development than group classes.

Our 500+ families have seen remarkable results: most children speak their first French sentences in lesson 1, and hold conversations by week 4. Book a free trial to see the difference yourself!

What are the benefits of raising a bilingual child?

The benefits of bilingualism go far beyond just speaking two languages!

Research from the American Psychological Association shows that bilingual children significantly outperform monolingual peers in:

🧠 **Cognitive Development** Enhanced executive function, better multitasking, improved problem-solving skills, and greater mental flexibility.

📚 **Academic Performance** Bilingual students score higher on standardized tests, show stronger reading comprehension, and excel in math and science.

💼 **Career Opportunities** French is spoken in over 50 countries across 5 continents. According to the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, 300 million people speak French worldwide, making it one of the most valuable languages for international careers.

🛡️ **Long-term Brain Health** Studies show that bilingualism can delay the onset of dementia by 4-5 years compared to monolingual individuals.

❤️ **Cultural & Emotional Benefits** Bilingual children develop greater empathy, cultural sensitivity, and communication confidence.

Starting French classes early gives your child a lifelong advantage. It’s not just a skill—it’s a superpower that opens doors to opportunities, connections, and experiences around the world. Ready to give your child this gift? Book a free trial today!
